Summer holidays are around the corner! 3i Art Center wishes you a great summer and hopes to see you all back next term!
As we have started the process of preparing for the new academic year, please kindly find enclosed some important information. Your comments and suggestion are always welcome!

• Next term will start on 23 August 2010. We will teach a mix of line drawing, water color and, of course, oil painting. In addition, we will introduce children to approx. 5 new picture books, this time via video presentation.
• For children ages 10+ we will introduce a sketching class on Wednesdays, from 6:30 to 8:00pm.
• As studio costs are rising rapidly we are forced to increase the tuition fee for all new students as from 23 August 2010 to RMB 230,- per 1.5 hours session, and RMB 260,- for the 2 hours session. All existing students will not be affected by the new regulation . For new parents who consider signing up 3i Art classes, we will offer the discounted rate of RMB 200,- and RMB 230,- respectively if next terms fees are received in full between 1 July and 22 August 2010.
For your information, 3i Art Center has undersigned 3rd party liability insurance for all students at both location, Chaoyang and Haidian.  Also, the participation in international competitions has immensely affected our costs.
• We have started to register our existing parents for next term. Please kindly fill in the registration form provided by our office and return it with a deposit of RMB 200,- for securing your place. The deposit is non-refundable if you do not take up your place, otherwise it will be part of next term’s tuition fee.
• As from next term we will open up classes on Thursdays at our Chaoyang location (teaching days will now be Mondays to Thursdays and Saturday); Our Haidian studio near Xizhimen will open up classes for children on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evening.
• Art Exhibition: We are very sorry to inform that one of our projects fell through, but we are now in the process of organizing our student exhibition for October.
• Encouraged by some of our parents, we would like to offer ‘International Art for Children’ by organizing ‘art trips’ to Hongkong, Japan and Europe (Age 5+) in the future. We have many ideas in mind (eg. connecting with foreign teaching centers, museum and gallery visits and activities etc.) and have started to discuss with some travel agencies. However, further comments and/or suggestions from your side are highly appreciated.
• New art teacher: As some of you may already know, Ms. Lihua Kong is leaving us by the end of this term to continue her studies. We have appointed Ms. Wang Ying who will start working with us from 1 July 2010. Ms. Wang Ying has an art degree and years of teaching experience. Furthermore, we have appointed Mr. Sun Shengjie for Haidian and possibly Chaoyang. We are also delighted to announce, that Ms. Zeng Zhaoxia starts working with us as from 1 August 2010 for additional teacher and office support. Ms. Zeng has worked with us on a freelance basis for many years and has done a lot of background work including the company’s graphic design etc.

In this view we would also like to mention, that in future we might intend to allocate our teachers to different classes within the existing academic year. This will not only increase a child’s and teacher’s flexibility to adjust but offers a great chance to children to get acquainted with a different teaching style. Although our classes are standardized in terms of class content and teaching objectives, we hope to see even more surprising outcomes and talent.
 
• And last but not least, our summer holiday classes start on 12 July and run for 4 weeks. Weekly bookings are possible. Each week will introduce children to a different oil painting topic.
